Planets And Moons

There are three types of planets, and they are rocky planets, gas giants, and ice giants. The Earth is an example of a rocky or terrestrial planet. It is a planet in the habitable zone of The Sun. Distant worlds orbit other stars. An example of an exoplanet (Extra Solar Planet) is Kepler-9 b it is a rocky planet very different from earth. Kepler-9 b is hotter than the sun! Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants. They have Lots of storms are the most common type of planet. Kepler-9 c is a type of gas giant called a Hot Jupiter. It is the hottest gas giant and it orbits close to the star. Finally Ice Giants like Uranus and Neptune are like gas giants, but they don't have storms. Ice giant exoplanets  are rarely  found because they orbit very far from their stars. Moons like The moon are tidally locked meaning that one side is always facing earth, the other always faces away from earth. Other moons like the Jovian Moons orbit around their planets the same way a planet orbits a star.

I want to know more about Rocky Planets!

The Earth is a rocky planet! Rocky planets are made of rock, iron, titaninuim, and magma/lava! Many rocky planets orbit near their stars and are very hot.

I want to know more about Gas Giants!

Gas Giants are like Jupiter and Saturn! Some have rings, and others don't. Gas giants are often the biggest planets in The Milky Way Galaxy!

I want to know more about Ice Giants!

An Ice Giant is a wierd type of planet. They are about 2x smaller and less massive than gas giants, but they are so cold that storms, hurricanes, and winds do not form!
